My background is unique and varied. Over the past 20 years I’ve worked in corporate training, business management, sales and marketing at some well-known Canadian companies and in 3 of my own businesses. People say that I’m relaxed, friendly, genuine and have a quick sense of humour. I know that I love helping people succeed in life. In a nutshell, I’m a:

My Passions

Although I’ve worked for companies including Canon, Bell Canada and Sprint Canada, I’m most proud of the four successful small businesses that I’ve owned including a ski and snowboard school and a marketing & training company. I love the independence and freedom that comes with being self-employed.

Through my business consulting and training company, Small Business Makeovers I help business owners increase sales and profits by teaching them to use low-cost marketing strategies.  A growing part of my practice is now in the personal development field – helping people discover their passions as a Certified Passion Test Facilitator.

Lesley Young & Geoff Affleck

I was born in Melbourne, Australia and came to Canada to follow my passion of skiing.  While working as a ski instructor at Mt. Washington BC, I met Lesley Young and we were married on the top of Whistler Mountain in 1990. We now live near Victoria BC on Vancouver Island on Canada’s west coast with our dog, Nico and two horses. Lesley is a horse trainer/coach. That’s us to the left.

Although I no longer teach on the slopes, I remain certified as a CSIA Level 3 ski instructor, CASI Level 2 snowboard instructor and CSCF Level 2 ski racing coach.

Education and Personal Development

I completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto, Ontario and Bachelor of Business degree in Marketing from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. It’s rewarding to see the results my clients get when these business school principles are combined with real-world experience.

Personal development has been a big passion of mine since I went to a life-changing seminar, The Millionaire Mind Intensive with Peak Potentials Training.  Founded by T. Harv Eker, author of the NY Times best seller, “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind”, Peak Potentials’ seminars are taught using high-involvement, accelerated learning techniques that allow participants to learn faster, remember more and dramatically enhancing their lives.

Another shift happened when I was at Greg Habstritt’s SimpleWealth Summit in Calgary. It was there that I was introduced to Janet and Chris Attwood, co-creators of The Passion Test. I had read the Passion Test book a couple of years earlier. While the book was great, having Janet take me through The Passion Test was way more powerful.  Janet told us about their Certified Passion Test Facilitators program and I thought, “How cool would it be to help others find their passions!”
